Not just Grand Theft Auto VI: Sony also sets April next year as the starting point for certain PS5 games, due out in 2025
The first half of the life cycle of PS5 has been a continuous succession of great first-party exclusives, but after the two masterpieces of Insomniac Games Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Sony he decided to hold off until April 2025. As you may have guessed from the month, therefore, it is once again the famous concept of “fiscal year” that we have talked about on several occasions. We had confirmation, during the cobalt titan’s latest quarterly report, that the Japanese giant does not intend to release large exclusives. At least, not until the end of the next fiscal year. The confirmation comes from none other than the absolute top of the company, Hiroki Totoki. “With regards to first-party software, we intend to focus on producing high-quality titles and live service games.”

My Neighbor Totoki: Early April Fool’s Day for Sony is the lack of triple-A titles until 2025
Proseguendo, Totoki he has declared that “while major Sony projects are in development, we do not intend to release any games from major IPs on PS5 such as God of War Ragnarok and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 in fiscal year 2025.” For the first-party oeuvre of consoles in blue, Helldivers 2 was the first major release of 2024 and was welcomed with open arms by critics. The company still has some aces up your sleeve for the current year, between Rise of the Ronin, Stellar Blade and the remaster of Until Dawn. Although Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is expected next year, Totoki seems to suggest that it won’t be talked about until spring at the earliest. Beyond leaks like Marvel’s Venom, Totoki’s expectations for New Year’s Eve include a “gradual decline” in hardware sales after a first half life cycle of over 55 million units. In the meantime, the expectations are similarly tough for Grand Theft Auto fans.
