PlayStation 5 becomes sponsor of the Italian Super Cup 2020

PS5: streaming for next-gen games is coming with the 7.0 update?

According to a rumor that started circulating on the net in the last few hours, Sony will also introduce cloud streaming for PS5 games with the next firmware update: let’s find out all the details together

PlayStation 5 continues to be an incredible commercial success, especially considering the limited amount of hardware that has been in circulation until recently (“the crisis is over!”, perhaps). A success that Sony continues to support with frequent and substantial firmware updates, and the next one seems to be really interesting. After announcing a partnership with Discord last year, in fact, it seems that with the next update 7.0 (scheduled for March 8, but not yet confirmed by official sources) the integration with one of the most used voice chats in the gaming world will be officially completed. But not only.

According to some sources who would have conferred with the journalist Tom Henderson, a famous insider, with the next update Sony intends to introduce cloud streaming also for titles developed exclusively next-gen. Currently, PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers (by the way, who check out January’s catalog additions!) have a cloud streaming service for games from the PS1, PS2, PS3 and PSP eras, with some restrictions in several countries. Also considering the fact that Microsoft is very pushing for cloud streaming on Xbox Series X | S… it is quite probable that Sony is also aiming for it.

Will Sony introduce cloud streaming support for PS5 games with the 7.0 update? Perhaps…

Apparently, this new service will only be available to PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers and, according to Henderson, A public beta version of the update will be available in February. Beta-testers, however, apparently will not have access to the complete implementation of Discord, which will have to wait for the official arrival of the update. We’ll see!
