Qualcomm announces the upcoming Snapdragon Night event

Qualcomm President and CEO Cristiano Amon has announced that there will be several news at the event Snapdragon Night of January 20. The latest presentation event saw the introduction of Snapdragon 778G +, but since 20 maggio we will have to see a sharp change of pace for mid-range chips.

In fact it seems that Qualcomm wants to change the name of the line by introducing Snapdragon 7 Gen 1, which follows the naming rules of the company’s top-of-the-range products. The new chip should have quattro core A710 a 2,36 GHz and others quattro A510 for 1.8GHz energy efficiency. Also, it should have a GPU Adreno 662.

According to the latest rumors this new chip should debut as early as May 23 aboard Oppo Reno8. But we expect several mid-range smartphones to have this chip 5G (we are already talking about Xiaomi Civi 2for instance).

At the event it looks like Qualcomm may also present Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+which should use semiconductors with process a 4 nanometers of TSMC. Should have un core Cortex X2, three Cortex A710 cores for performance and four Cortex A510s for efficiency, with CPU frequency increased to 2.99 GHz. It should improve performance by 10% in CPU computing and also some slight graphical improvements.

This chip should arrive at the top of the range as in the next one flagship Motorola (codenamed Frontier 22), OnePlus 10 Ultra, Xiaomi 12 Ultra and the next gaming phone ROG. All products to be released in the second half of the year.

However, these are only speculations given the news leaked in recent days, we will have official data only on May 20 after the event. We will keep you posted.
