And here we are fifth day of the Ravenna Nightmare Film Fest, the festival dedicated to the dark side of cinema. Thursday 4th November is dedicated to schools.
Appointments in the morning
The undisputed protagonists of the morning will be three masterclasses, aimed at deepening some central themes of cinema: the meetings will start with Carlo Montanaro who will deepen the cinema of Georges Méliès in The cinema of wonders: Méliès in color. Méliès is undoubtedly one of the founders of the art of cinema and the masterclass will be entirely dedicated to him.
Following, always Carlo Montanaro, this time in dialogue with Donato Guerra, with the opportunity to rediscover Dante through silent cinema in Dante without words.
In the early afternoon the last appointment, which does not underestimate the impact of animated films, in fact the masterclass in question will focus on Soul with the title Cinema and Philosophy: the meaning of life according to Soul and will be conducted by Prof. Emanuela Serri and Prof. Rossella Giovannini.
Appointments in the afternoon
After this thrilling training, it will take place the penultimate appointment with Japanese October, a review dedicated to oriental cinema, with the screening of Every day is a good day by Tastushi Omori, a tribute to the sacred tea ceremony, at 4:30 pm.
While at 6:30 pm Infinite Sea by Carlos Amaral will be screened, the film will be among the candidates for the International Feature Film Competition. Later the director in the room will explain how Pedro’s journey to a new planet and his meeting with Eva was born.
In conclusion, a special event will take place at 21:00. Director Stefano Mordini will be present in the room and will introduce his latest film The Catholic School, which will be screened in the Contemporary section. The film will be preceded by the Making Of made on the set of the film by Maria Martinelli. Presented out of competition at Venezia 78, the story based on the book by Edoardo Albinati, unfortunately brings back the famous Circeo massacre on the screen.
A rich program, which offers several interesting ideas, we just have to grasp them.
