Design
The new Realme C55 boasts a modern and minimalist design available in two colors: Sunshower and Rainy Night (model used for this review). The back of the device is made of glass-effect plastic with a matte finish that makes it pleasant to the touch and resistant to fingerprints. On the back side is the camera compartment characterized by two large portholes of the main sensors and the LED flash. The power button that incorporates fingerprints and audio controls are positioned on the right side instead. The dimensions of the smartphone, 165.6 x 75.9 x 7.89 mm, correspond to 189.5 grams, in line with most models on the market.
Fourth is about the displaywe find a 6.5-inch IPS LCD with HD+ resolution which ensures a satisfying viewing experience. In the lower part, however, we find the headphone jack input, the USB Type-C port and an audio speaker.
Inside the package we find, in addition to the smartphone, an instruction manual, a transparent rubber cover and the 33W Supervooc charging socket (and relative cable).
Technology
The Realme C55 is equipped with a MediaTek Helio G35 processor, 8GB of expandable RAM and 128GB of storage interna also expandable via microSD. These technical specifications make it a perfect device for daily use without too many pretensions. The 6.72” FHD Display capable of reaching up to 90Hz make it the ideal tool for entertainment with 16.7M colors and 680 nits brightness.
As for the photographic sector, the Realme C55 features a 64 megapixel main camera and a 2MP depth sensor. The camera for selfies is 5MP instead. This is the largest front-facing sensor in this price range that uses the most advanced imaging software. 64MP Mode dramatically increases image sharpness, giving greater texture and depth to your most important photos. The camera modes also take advantage of the potential of AI for always vivid colors where we want them.
In support of the smartphone we have a large 5000mAh battery that offers excellent autonomy. If that weren’t enough, the Realme C55 supports the 33W fast charging which will allow you to ccharge your smartphone from 0 to 100 in less than an hour.
the new proof of the realme C55
For this review, we tested the new realme C55 for about a month during some it became our second smartphone of daily use. From a material point of view, we certainly cannot complain about the materials and style of this C55, in line with the minimalism and elegance of the other realmes.
Just the camera sector is a little out of the ordinary with two large portholes which, all in all, we liked. The feel returned by the smartphone is really excellent even if we are not big fans of the “hardness” of the sides to which we prefer softer curves.
In the field, the smartphone moves very well and has nothing to envy to more expensive models. Even if the supplied processor is not the latest or the best performing, it does exactly what is expected as long as you don’t put too much pressure on it with more demanding games or apps. The autonomy guaranteed by the 5000mAh battery is also excellent which, without paying too much attention to it, arrived largely at the end of the day without problems. With some care and various energy savings, we are sure you will be able to overcome the fateful threshold of a single day.
Camera side…
…without infamy and without praise. The realme C55 is placed in the standards of contemporary mid-low-end smartphones, both in terms of the front camera and selfies. Nothing spectacular but with good lighting it can give you excellent shots. The shots in the dark are also good, not yet on a par with high-end smartphones but improved compared to previous models.
Sore point instead as regards the rendering of the videos, simply Ok. The tools made available by realme, as well as those for photos, can improve the performance of certain shots and situations but the camera that the smartphone is equipped with is not designed for creators or for those who demand the most from their shots. However, it remains at an adequate level for the price range we are talking about.
The realme C55 review in a nutshell
In short, the Realme C55 is a good value for money device, ideal for those looking for a reliable and functional device for daily use. While not suitable for games or heavy applications, the Realme C55 offers smooth performance and a pleasant user experience.
All this at a super competitive price of around €200 for a smartphone released a few weeks ago with the potential of Android 13 and the Realme UI 4.0 system, the most recent available.
