Release dates for Kraven and Karate Kids films postponed

Sony has officially announced the postponement of the release of two of its highly anticipated upcoming films: Kraven the Hunter and Karate Kid

News has arrived in these hours of a series of postponements due to the Hollywood strikes of 2023, the long wave of which is also being felt at Sony. Particularly the movie about Kraven the Hunter, Spider-Man villain which is part of Sony's Spider-Man Universe (SSU), has been delayed to December 13, 2024. Scheduled for August 30th this year, the film had already been postponed for almost a year due to labor unrest: initially Sony had set the release date February 14 last.

Kraven the Hunter will see Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Sergei Kravinoff, a Russian immigrant determined to prove himself as the world's greatest hunter. The cast also includes Arana DeBose (Calypso), Fred Heichinger (Chameleon), Christopher Abbott, Alessandro Nivola, Russell Crowe and Levi Miller. Despite the ties between Sony and Marvel Studios, Kraven the Hunter will not be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Barring explosive post-credit scenes.

New release dates for Kraven and other Sony films

The new Karate Kid film has also been postponed: initially scheduled for December 13, 2024, it will now debut in theaters on 30 maggio 2025, to make room for Kraven. But also to allow the film to follow the last season of spin-off Cobra Kai television. We are therefore talking about next year for this project in post-production.

The new Karate Kid will mark the return of the original franchise and will feature the cast Ralph Macchio, Jackie Chan, Ben Wang, Joshua Jackson, Sadie Stanley, Wyatt Oleff, Aramis Knight e Ming-Na Wen. We will have to wait a year for it, but in its place we will be able to see the long-awaited Kraven film at Christmas, for which you can find the trailer above.
