The Housemarque roguelike, if it arrives on PC, will keep the charm of the consoles: that Returnal is really optimized for Steam Deck?
Many (or rather, at the same time many) Sony exclusives are directed on PCbut it seems that if Returnal should it prove to be one of them, the owners of Steam Deck. We already have confirmation of ports not to be taken for granted, such as Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection, Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Now, however, among the various rumors there is also one for the roguelike. In addition to enjoying critical acclaim, the title of Housemarque also recorded considerable revenues, with a hint of complicity from the acquisition by Sony itself.
From the PC to a Steam Deck release with great fanfare: the return of Returnal
One of the sources pointing towards Returnal’s release on PC is the game’s SteamDB page, which recently also mentioned the aforementioned Steam Deck. One specific update made a very explicit mention of the profiles for the controller on Valve’s hybrid device. While it may be early to talk about optimization, one thing is certain. In its still being unbeaten in terms of sales (with all due respect to Gabe Newell), Nintendo Switch has certainly made school. Of course, all the ports seen so far by the blue titan are supported by the hybrid console. But unlike Horizon Zero Dawn, Days Gone and God of War, the roguelike has not yet been officially announced. The game is currently available exclusively on PS5, and it’s not the only console title at the center of the internet chatter either.
