RIP Twitter: Elon Musk’s social network drowns in a sea of memes

What is the moment when it all went wrong? We don’t need Deep Thought – the megacomputer that can provide the answer to Fundamental Question about Life, the Universe and Everything of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy – to find out. Since this morning, after a new exodus of Twitter employees, the social network has been invaded by a hashtag still first in trends on the platform: RIP Twitter. So is Elon Musk’s social network dying?

We don’t know if he’s exactly dying, but he certainly doesn’t look good. The flight of employees this morning is just the straw that is overflowing a vase full of controversies (and of memes). A vase that, mind you, is the exclusive property of Elon Musk.

Since the acquisition of the platform, every one has happened, on a daily basis. In no particular order: dismissal of 50% of employees; rampant fake news; paid blue check ad; introduction, subsequent withdrawal and reintroduction of the gray ticks; further wave of layoffs for external collaborators; ban for anyone impersonating Elon Musk; celebrities deleting their accounts. In short, dear Twitter, it was nice: RIPgoodbye, and thanks for all the meme.
