In the wake of recent rumors regarding Bethesda’s new sci-fi RPG, a recent GamesBeat report confirmed that Starfield will not arrive on PS5, but will be Microsoft exclusive.
Microsoft’s acquisition of Bethesda had at the time caused a lot of hype and as much perplexity. First of all, it has rarely happened that a large company like that of the developers of The Elder Scrolls or Fallout was acquired by an even more important publisher, which then also holds a large slice of the console and services market. Secondly, because doubts arose about how the “exclusives” would then be managed. Although Microsoft has always placed itself under the point of view of services, in fact, acquiring a company like Zenimax and not taking advantage of it to create your own exclusives seemed just absurd. And maybe, in fact, it will go exactly as we all thought.
In recent days, rumors have begun to circulate regarding Starfield, the sci-fi RPG title developed by Bethesda, regarding its alleged exclusivity or not at the Redmond house. Jeff Grubb, a well-known journalist in the sector, with a succinct tweet on his official channels had stated that the mysterious first-person title will be exclusive to Xbox and PC, so literally for the Microsoft universe. This is because, of course, it would be a no small addition to the highly acclaimed Xbox Game Pass title park.
No Starfield on PS5 then? Who knows.
Grubb then added some details to his statement, thus subsequently confirming the alleged exclusivity of Starfield on consoles at Xbox Series X | S. In fact, as already mentioned, buying a company like Bethesda and not aiming to exploit its potential would be somewhat strange from a giant like Microsoft. We do not know if Bethesda already had pre-existing agreements with Sony for some titles, and in that case those should be respected, but according to this series of rumors, Starfield would not be part of it anyway.
