From November 12th Shang-chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings will be available on Disney +
Shang-chi and the legend of the Ten Rings, origin story of the first oriental superhero to join the MCU world, will be available on Disney’s streaming platform from November 12, at no additional cost.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings was released in the United States on September 3, 2021 and in Italy on September 1. The film was originally slated for February 12, 2021, but was later moved to May 7, 2021 and then July 9, 2021 due to the pandemic. AND from tomorrow it will be available on Disney + for all subscribers to the platform.
The film is the seventh highest grossing of 2021 and the highest grossing in North America of 2021.
The main themes
Unlike many other cinecomics this new film has gods very fantasy implications, obviously given by the setting of the ancient Chinese legends that are the background to the story.
Shang-chi is a film that mixes the typical cinecomic ingredients very well: rhythm, action and irony, but somehow it is as if it dosed them in a different way, the result is much darker and more mature than other Marvel products.
Shang-chi represents the hero who must reach his destiny through a journey together with a heterogeneous company (represented by her friend Katy and Trevor Slattery, the “fake” Mandarin directly from Iron Man 3), she even dies to be reborn and finally face the great final test.
Other theme present in the film is that of the family drama: we have grief, abandonment between siblings, the abandonment of one of the two children by the parent and physical and psychological violence towards the other, which however is passed as hard training.
Jiang Li is a guide for Wenwu and they both give up everything for the family. Unfortunately, Wenwu’s criminal past returns to upset the family balance they had built, killing Jian Li and thus, Wenwu falls back into his criminal habits. Therefore Shang is forced to undergo hard training, while his sister Xialing is completely ignored.
