Sony: Top 5 PS4/PS5 exclusives coming out in 2023 (hopefully)

PlayStation 5 becomes sponsor of the Italian Super Cup 2020

2023 is now approaching by leaps and bounds, and in this article we want to go and see with you our top 5 of Sony PS4 and PS5 exclusives to be released in the coming year, or at least we hope

2022 was certainly an impressive gaming year in terms of the last generation of consoles, less so for PS5 and Xbox Series X which, also due to the scarcity of hardware in circulation, have struggled to come up with real next-gen exclusives worthy of Note. The coming year should (and we stress, with a hint of hope, should) be the turning point: either the “next-gen” brings out the attributes, or there will be real trouble. In short, with a very hopeful look, we are preparing to throw ourselves into 2023, which already seems to be very rich in terms of exclusive consoles. We have therefore thought of a series of three articles, one for each large company, dedicated to the exclusive video games for each that will be released (or at least we hope) over the next year. Let’s start with Sony!

The top 5 of exclusives arriving in 2023 on PS4 and PS5 according to TechGameWorld.com!

Before continuing with our Top 5 Sony PS4 and PS5 exclusives arriving in 2023, we want to explain the rules of the game. This article is based on absolutely nothing concrete, as obviously the five games you’ll see below are not yet released in complete form. This means that you are dealing with something based exclusively about our expectations, hopes and hype. Furthermore, there are no cross-platform games, although almost all the competitors will also be released on PC: therefore, let’s exclude regardless a Hogwarts Legacy, a Dead Space Remake or many other titles that you find in our list of Best games coming out in 2023. Let’s start … with an honorable mention.

Sony: Top 5 PS4/PS5 exclusives coming out in 2023 (hopefully)

Honorable mention: the PSVR2! | Sony: Top 5 PS4/PS5 exclusives coming out in 2023 (hopefully)

We have not made it a real competitor simply because we are not talking about software, but about hardware. Ever since its announcement, though, we’ve looked at PSVR2 with a dreamy eye and full of anticipation. The world of Virtual Reality has remained (and still is) something relegated to a niche of enthusiasts, both because of the prices (generally quite high, if you aim for quality devices) and because of the scarcity of developed titles exclusively and specifically for VR. Although the new Sony home proposal is rather expensive in the first aspect (€ 599.99 is really a lot, practically more than the same PlayStation 5), the quality of a Horizon Call of the Mountain gives us hope from the software front. Especially as regards, precisely, the exclusives of the Sony sector.

5. Forspoken | Sony: Top 5 PS4/PS5 exclusives coming out in 2023 (hopefully)

Forspoken would definitely have been in a higher position, if it weren’t for the test we performed on the demo released last week on PlayStation 5. Net of the many doubts that arose (we talked about it in our Preview, click here!), the title of Luminous Productions produced by Square Enix has on its side a truly interesting artistic direction and concept that we can’t wait to be able to try out in full on our PlayStation 5. The protagonist will be Frey, a young woman who, in circumstances still unknown to us, will find herself transported from the real world to one pervaded by magic, which she too will learn to handle and like. Between magical parkour and combat both with white weapons and from a distance, the world of Forspoken unfolds, aesthetically beautiful, before our eyes.

Forspoken will be available from January 24, 2023 on PC and PS5.

4.Final Fantasy VII Rebirth | Sony: Top 5 PS4/PS5 exclusives coming out in 2023 (hopefully)

The same discourse of Forspoken applies, in part, to Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. The second part of the “Remake” project of the seventh chapter of the final fantasy of Square Enix, which was presented as a remake of the original with some changes that seemed more like a break of the fourth wall rather than a real change of narrative. So, in the end, it wasn’t and Final Fantasy 7 Remake became a real… Remake. We do not know what choices the authors have made for the next parts, nor how these will reconnect with Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII – Reunion and Zack’s fate. After the initial bewilderment (and, in part, disappointment), we are now in fervent anticipation: what will Square Enix want to do with Final Fantasy VII?

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is expected in 2023, but the release date is still TBA.

3. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 | Sony: Top 5 PS4/PS5 exclusives coming out in 2023 (hopefully)

After an exceptionally interesting first chapter and a small “spin-off” dedicated to Miles Morales that is even more satisfying (also because it is more “compact”), Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is definitely one of the titles we most look forward to in 2023. No, we haven’t gotten tired of Marvel-branded video games yet, especially if they still maintain a quality level worthy of Sony’s first-party exclusives, both videogame and narratively speaking. The fact that he has a development house like Insomniac Games behind him, which over time has been able to show his skills very well, makes the wait even more difficult.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is slated for Fall 2023.

2. Silent Hill 2 Remake | Sony: Top 5 PS4/PS5 exclusives coming out in 2023 (hopefully)

We approach the first position passing by one of the undisputed masterpieces of the PlayStation 2 era. Konami’s iconic Silent Hill 2 will return, in a completely revised and corrected form from the hands of Bloober Team (Layers of Fear, The Medium). Why start from the second chapter and not from the first? Precisely because of what he represented for the video game industry, for its depth and the skill with which some issues have been treated. The Remake will therefore have a powerful narrative on its side, this time accompanied by a completely different technical level from the peaks that could be reached twenty years ago. For example, fixed shots will be abandoned, for a decidedly more modern and satisfying third-person camera. We’ll see: the prerequisites for laying a new foundation for future horror games are all there.

Silent Hill 2 is still TBA, it will be released for PC and PS5.

1.Final Fantasy XVI | Sony: Top 5 PS4/PS5 exclusives coming out in 2023 (hopefully)

And finally yes, at the top of our Top 5 of the most awaited exclusives from TechGameWorld.com for the next 2023 there is him: Final Fantasy XVI. After the bitter disappointment that was the fifteenth chapter, first victim of a development that to define troubled is an understatement, subsequently from the desire to do too much, succeeding very little, especially from the narrative point of view (with even a change of Director in the middle, from Nomura to Tabata), our hearts filled with hope when Final Fantasy XVI was announced. Produced by Yoshida, the former savior of Final Fantasy XIV, this sixteenth chapter seems to want to resume the dark and political colors of Final Fantasy XII and is set in the world of Valsthea, oppressed by a disease kept at bay by the Crystal. Clive is our protagonist, who embarks on a perilous journey aimed at revenge. Cliché enough, but it will be enough to look at the latest trailer to understand that there seems to be as much meat on the fire as we want.

Final Fantasy XVI will arrive exclusively on PS5 on June 22, 2023.

We wait and hope!
