News coming soon for Spotify: “Community“, The option that will allow mobile users to see i music that friends are listening to in real time, and which playlists have recently updated. The platform currently offers a similar feature, but with limited access for users. Now, however, the situation appears to be destined to change.
Community: Spotify launches a new feature for friends activity
Over the last few years, the Spotify App has focused above all on the personalization of content reserved for users. Precisely for this reason, the idea of putting listeners at the center of a network of people has always been quite far from the plans of the company. Yet now something seems to have changed. These days, in fact, users can access Spotify’s new “Community” function by typing “spotify:community” nel browser Safari on your iOS device. As far as we know, the option is being tested, but Chris Messina still managed to share a preview on his Twitter account.
As you can see in the image above, the new function will allow you to access a section that sees the above updated playlists of your friendsand then a list of your acquaintances complete with an update in real time on what they are listening to. Along with a specific indication of when a friend has listened to a certain song. And that’s not all. For those who are actually listening to something, the App adds animated music equalizer bars next to the name. Indeed, in an updated version of the “Community” function Spotify has also added timestamps to playlist updates.
At the moment, however, the function is still in the testing phase. It offers users the ability to view the songs that are part of a friend’s playlist, but still does not allow them to be listened to live by simply clicking on the title. But perhaps this could change as “Community” is made available.
