Paramount has hired Toby Haynes, former director of Andor and Black Mirror, to direct a Star Trek film set as a prequel to the trilogy seen on the big screen in recent years
A few days ago we talked to you about the Star Trek series and possible previews, but the news today is the production of a prequel film to the trilogy. Unlike Picard and Section 31 with Michelle Yeohyes it is a feature film unequivocally destined for the cinema: Paramount has in fact hired Seth Grahame-Smith e Toby Haynes to respectively write and direct a further new Star Trek film, conceived as a prequel to the last big screen stories. In the meantime, the fourth chapter remains in preparation.
Star Trek, what is known about the prequel coming to Paramount
According to a Deadline exclusive, there’s a new Star Trek movie headed to theaters and it’s not Star Trek 4 with Chris Pine e Zachary Quinto (a project still in gestation). It is in fact a prequel to the Star Trek trilogy, Into Darkness – Star Trek and Star Trek Beyond from 2016, set well before the events narrated there. Nothing is actually known yet about the plot and its protagonist characters, but we know that this further project joins those active for TV, and that the intention of the Paramount and its boss Brian Robbins is to expand support for one of their flagship brands with more conviction.
Furthermore, the director designated for this prequel comes from those parts: he is Toby Haynes, who directed the beautiful episodes of Andor’s imprisonment. The screenplay is written by Seth Grahame-Smith, who began working for about ten years ago Tim Burton (Dark Shadows) and then recently signed the horror comedies of the Just Beyond series on Disney+.
