No cross-play in sight for the second child of Square-Enix and Team Ninja, the cross-platform Strangers of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin
Beyond the premises that have been able to alienate some fans, Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin is definitely one of the most intriguing projects by the Japanese role-playing giant until you consider the cross-play a priority. Developed by Team Ninja and, as such, filled with action RPG elements (not unlike Nioh), the game sees the company of Jack Garland intent on saving the world. Of course, history repeats itself: as in Crystal Chronicles years ago, co-op for groups of up to three players is back here too. As we have anticipated, however, not all Guil are the ones who shine.
The lost cross-play of Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin
Those expecting cross-play from Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin will be disappointed. In a statement to the foreign press of the sector, the development team confirmed that it is possible to combine “the same family of consoles”, but doing the same with several different ecosystems does not seem to be feasible at the moment. The thing also extends to who will play the title on PC, restricting matchmaking only and only to other fans who will do the same. As for the possibility of playing together on different platforms in the future, not even this seems to be part of the development team’s plans.
A new demo has just come out on Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S, PS4 and PS5, with the promise (as is often the case with Square-Enix these days) to transfer progress to the full game. However, the development team has confirmed that there are currently no plans to release the demo on PC. The game will be with us on the 18th of the month (in three days), but the pre-order allows you to play it today. As for PC players, their pre-order will give them a day early. For the moment, we look forward to having more details on this in the days to come.
