Studio Ghibli and Lucasfilm collaborate together on a new project which is a short film dedicated to Baby Yoda
The collaboration between Studio Ghibli and Lucasfilm was first announced with a cryptic message that drove fans crazy and then resulted in a nice surprise.
The Twitter message consisted of a 15-second video on the Studio Ghibli page featuring the animated Lucasfilm logo along with the Japanese animation house logo in the illustration style typical of the movie My Neighbor Totoro. This video was released without official notice or details. A great way to raise the curiosity of all the fans eagerly waiting for two worlds so beloved to cross.
Studio Ghibli and Lucasfilm together for a short film on Disney Plus
The wait actually lasted very little because not many hours later, the cryptic message became reality with a nice surprise. That is a short film by Studio Ghibli, dedicated to the character Baby Yoda and released on November 13 on the Disney Plus platform.
The short film lasts three minutes and is titled Zen – Grogu and Dust Bunnies and is directed by Katsuya Kondo, animator, designer and historical figure of Studio Ghibli. The music instead is curated by Ludwig Göransson, composer of The Mandalorian and Oscar winner for the music of Black Panther.
Great care and attention therefore for this short that was published on the same day that The Mandalorian was published three years ago since the protagonist is Baby Yoda who was seen for the first time in the new series.
The short is therefore available on the Disney Plus platform for all subscribers and from official communication, it will be the first project of a collaboration that will continue, apparently with other interesting surprises.
