The Chinese brand TaoTronics it really offers an infinity of models through its large catalog. To make himself known in the European market he asked us to give an opinion on his new earbuds: TaoTronics SoundLiberty 77. We have accepted the challenge and after several days of testing we are ready to give you our opinion in this one review.
Let’s start with aesthetics – TaoTronics SoundLiberty 77 review
Let’s start by saying that the new true wireless are a ‘full update of the previous ones TT-BH053, which we reviewed some time ago. To remind us that we are dealing with the heirs of these earbuds is also the packaging and the content, quite similar to the others. In an orange box, in fact, we find the USB cable on one side and Micro-USB on the other, two further pairs of rubber pads (in addition to the one already present on the earphones), the instruction manual and (obviously) the case with true wireless inside.
At first glance, the new TaoTronics SoundLiberty 77 appear by far more elegant compared to TT-BH053. Both the case and the earphones, although they are totally in plastic, enjoy a truly successful aesthetic, with a texture reminiscent of fingerprints and gods led. The latter are placed concurrently with the comandi touch on the earbuds and range from a white to a blue hue, very pleasing.
The case is also equipped with led placed on the front, which indicate the charge level of the latter. To give the “premium” factor to the eye and to the touch is certainly the opaque plastic and the pretty good finishes which characterize this product which, even if low budget, do their dirty work. The two earphones are magnetized inside the case precisely and the closing system of the case is at least accurate. Only a couple of times it happened that one of the two headphones did not match perfectly with the three pins, preventing the correct closure.
Abandoning the grotesque style that characterized the last model, clearly inspired by Apple’s AirPods (complete with a shaft that extended downwards), the SoundLiberty 77 adopt a smarter and cleaner style, which makes them appear more original and less “the usual Chinese copy”.
Audio – TaoTronics SoundLiberty 77 Review
Now let’s talk about the most important side, the one that will make you decide whether or not to buy the SoundLiberty 77 by TaoTronics. Well, let’s start by saying that the rubber pads are not of the highest quality and this is certainly felt after a long listening session with these earbuds, or when you wear them. In addition to not guaranteeing noteworthy soundproofing, in the long run they could cause slight annoyances, forcing us to temporarily stop listening.
On the sound side there is not much to say, good highs and mids, but (unfortunately) only those. Well, these headphones they really sin a lot of bass, so much that they distort certain songs. This lack is perceived less once you view video content, on YouTube or Netflix for example. Thanks to Bluetooth 5.0, the delay between headphones and the connected device is almost nil, making us enjoy any content, both audio and video, in an optimal way. In addition to this, the connection is almost immediate, with the headphones pairing once the case is opened.
A very useful feature of these earbuds is that neither of the two headphones is the main one, being able to use one at a time regardless of the side chosen, a gem not to be underestimated absolutely. Also in this model the gesture with touch controls, placed in conjunction with the “fingerprint” effect texture on each earphone. The commands will allow us to level the volume, pause a content, proceed forward or backward in our playlist and manage calls, as well as activate the voice assistant. It has often happened to us, But, that the commands were not recognized on the first attempt.
One of the best things about the SoundLiberty 77 is certainly the battery compartment. The own charge of the earphones can reach 5 hours and, thanks to the case with a capacity of 410 mAh, total playback reaches 20 hours. This also makes them great for long journeys, as you won’t need to charge them even once. The input that allows charging to the case is of the Micro-USB type, a choice obviously aimed at saving.
Bluetooth earphones enjoy IPX7 certification, therefore against sweat, water and rain: a must for use in the gym. As for the microphones they are not that great, especially when used in noisy environments, as they tend to capture too much surrounding noise.
TaoTronics SoundLiberty 77: who should buy them?
The new earbuds of the Chinese house improve many aspects of the TT-BH053 but, unfortunately, not all. It is true, on the aesthetic side they have really made many steps forward, as well as in size and gesture. The sore side of the TaoTronics SoundLiberty 77 is the sound sector, too thin and not very full-bodied. As we said earlier, however, while watching a TV series, movie or video content in general, the earbuds perform quite well.
Who should buy them, then? Surely users who make a generic use of this product, not professional or aimed at analyzing the quality of the sounds perceived. The SoundLiberty 77 by TaoTronics can be classified as “battle” Bluetooth headphones to be used, for example, to tackle more than a few trips without having a large footprint.
