The manufacturer of Tekken X Street Fighter, Katsuhiro Harada, had in fact spread the news of his death in the previous days, but he has recently corrected himself by stating that it was a translation error. So let’s try to clarify the question a little better.
Tekken X Street Fighter: postponed to a later date
The title that mixes two of the most famous fighting games in the sector therefore seems to have suffered from a problem related to subtitles and it was Harada himself who shed light on this by adding that the game, previously in progress and 30% developed, now it is pending. In his account Harada’s Bar, the producer then continued as follows:
We are still confident that Tekken X Street Fighter will resume development when the opportunity presents itself. However, such a title cannot be moved just for the convenience of one company in terms of marketing and branding, and it also affects the development resources of the other. For now, we are just waiting for the right opportunity
This is going to hang up with another similar statement made in the course of 2019 when the seventh chapter was going crazy which, in March 2021, sold around seven million copies. At the time, therefore, Harada had defined the crossover as always “harder to justify” also because Capcom was involved and it seems that the sixth chapter of Street Fighter is approaching.
