Anime Factory has revealed, via press release, the release date in Italian cinemas of The First Slam Dunk both in the original version and in the dubbed version: let’s find out all the details together

Anime Factory, a label owned by Plaion Pictures, is proud to announce that Italy will be the first European nation and the entire West to distribute the anime film The First Slam Dunk in cinemas and takes the opportunity to reveal the expectation Italian release date in cinemas of the film, also revealing the teaser motion poster. Produced by TOEI Animation, the film is written and directed by Takehiko Inouecreator of the acclaimed original manga, here in his first attempt as a director.

The film will be released in Italian cinemas as an event from 11 to 17 May in a dubbed version, preceded by the exclusive and unique date of May 10 in which the film can be seen in the original language. The unpublished motion poster portrays one after the other, the close-up of the faces of the Shohoku starting quintet made up of Ryota Miyagi, Hanamichi Sakuragi, Kaede Rukawa, Takenori Akagi and Hisashi Mitsui, who will give life to one of the most exciting matches ever seen on the big screen.

Furthermore, at the very recent and prestigious Japan Academy Film Prize, The First Slam Dunk obtained the important recognition of Best Animated Film of the Year, beating rising sun animation giants such as Goro Taniguchi’s One Piece Film: RED, Keiichi Hara’s Lonely Castle in the Mirror and Makoto Shinkai’s latest film Suzume no tojimari.

Set in the world of high school basketball, The First Slam Dunk features a “hybrid” animation between cutting-edge CGI and hand drawing typical of traditional 2D animation, expressly desired by Takehiko Inoue himself to best recreate the fluidity of movements, in breathtaking and highly realistic game sequences capable of catapulting the viewer into the field next to the protagonists. Among these, The First Slam Dunk shines the spotlight on Ryota, the Shohoku point guard. Ryota is the point guard of Shohoku, a team that earned a place in the national tournament as the representative of Kanagawa Prefecture despite being an unknown high school. Ryota is ready, together with his teammates, to face the “unbeatable” Sannoh, the champion team of the national tournament.
