January 15th will mark one year since the first season of The Last of Us HBO debuted, quickly becoming the biggest video game adaptation of all time. Unfortunately, we still have to wait a while before we see it second season. Filming will begin next month, so the TV series will return to our screens no earlier than next year. The news for next season will be Isabela Merced, who will join the cast of The Last of Us as Dina. The co-creators of the series Craig Mazin e Neil Druckmann praised the actress, declaring:
Dina is bright, wild, funny, moral, dangerous and instantly lovable. You can search endlessly for an actor who effortlessly embodies all of these things, or you can find Isabela Merced right away. We couldn’t be more proud to have her in our family.
The Last of Us 2: what Isabela Merced’s Dina will be like
The official description of the character of Dina is about a freewheeling spirit whose devotion to Ellie will be tested by the brutality of the world she lives in, which is all true. Die-hard fans know that Ellie and Dina’s relationship is one of the greatest sources of joy and heart in this chapter of the story. Isabela Merced starred in Dora and the City of Lost, Rosaline, Transformers: The Last Knight or in the animated film Migration. She will also star in Turtles All The Way Down, a film adaptation of John Green’s novel, and Madame Web, both out this year.
Isabela actually starred alongside Kaitlyn Dever in Rosaline, so Abby and Dina have somehow already met. Isabela also took to her Instagram story to post a photo of her and Bella Ramsey (Ellie) at an event, with the caption: “Let the romance begin.” In short, the wait for The Last of Us 2 enters its hot phase.
