After years of rumors, Nintendo has finally revealed a decidedly ambitious project: a live-action film inspired by The Legend of Zeldaone of his most beloved and longest-running video game series.
What we know about The Legend of Zelda live-action film
The film will be directed by Wes Ballknown for the Maze Runner trilogy, and produced by Shigeru Miyamotothe creator of Zelda and other Nintendo icons, along with Avi Arad, veteran of Marvel films. Miyamoto himself gave the announcement on Twitter/X.
I have asked Avi-san to produce this film with me, and we have now officially started the development of the film with Nintendo itself heavily involved in the production. It will take time until its completion, but I hope you look forward to seeing it. [2]https://t.co/2H9lzzS5Pv

The most surprising news, however, is that the film will be co-financed by Nintendo and Sony Pictures Entertainment, the film division of the same company that owns PlayStation, Nintendo’s main competitor in the video game market. Nintendo specified that it financed more than half of the film, but also acknowledged Sony Pictures Entertainment’s role as theatrical distributor.
For the rest, the live-action Zelda is still shrouded in mystery, and nothing is known about the plot, cast or release date.
Meanwhile, Nintendo is celebrating exceeding 132 million units sold for its Nintendo Switch. And guess which title appears among the best-selling games? Exactly, exactly The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomwhich sold 19.50 million copies in just a few months.
