The lying life of adults, the new 6-episode series produced by Fandango and based on the novel of the same name by Elena Ferrante, published by Edizioni E/O, will be released on Netflix on January 4, 2023 in all countries where the service is active
The lying life of adults is a six-episode TV series written by Elena Ferrante, Laura Paolucci, Francesco Piccolo and Edoardo De Angelis and directed by Edoardo De Angelis.
The series is a wholly unique portrait of Giovanna’s transition from childhood to adolescence in the 1990s. There search for a new identityafter the light-heartedness of childhood, oscillates between two Napoli consanguineous who are however feared and detested: the Naples above, which has given itself a fine mask, and the one below, which pretends to be immoderate and trivial. As with the city, Giovanna fluctuates between high and low, now falling now climbing, disoriented by uncertainties and restlessness.

Below is a brief overview of the protagonists of the series.
Giovanna (Jordanian Marengo) has short hair, piercing eyes and an aggressive, grunge look. “He’s making a face like Victoria,” her mother says to her father at the beginning of the story. And perhaps it is true, if she at fifteen, she grew up in the upper world of Naples well, she is becoming ugly and bad like the unmentionable aunt with whom the family hasn’t spoken for years. Giovanna reads a lot, she loves novels, she is smart, intelligent, capable, but her life cannot be said to be perfect: she does badly at school, misunderstandings with her parents Andrea (Alexander Precious) and in the (turkish) are on the agenda and the idea of rebellion is always inviting.
The meeting with Victoria (Valeria Golino), who looks a lot like her and in which she can’t help but reflect, opens her eyes: she will discover unspeakable secrets about her parents and their past, she will learn to lie like adults, to speak like her aunt, and like Vittoria to open up to love and sex. Vittoria is a storm, prosperous and wild, foul-mouthed, cheeky, an intolerant and ironic smoker, unfriendly but in her loving way. In particular, she loves Giovanna, but the two have a conflicting relationship. It will be thanks to her that he will discover the true nature of adults: they are all liars… even her.
The shooting of the series took place between Naples and Milan, involving different neighborhoods between the center and the suburbs, from Poggioreale ai Navigli.
