The most anticipated video games of 2022: too many games in a short time?

It is not long now 2022, and next year promises to be a game changer for the current generation of gaming, which has been playing rather subdued due to the pandemic. The first months of 2022 are in fact so full of releases that they have led many to say that probably there is even too much to play, which is partly true. So let’s take a look at what they are the most anticipated video games of 2022.

The most anticipated video games of 2022

The reason why a large number of major releases are concentrated in the first part of 2022 is very simple: the software houses want to bring their flagship products back into the fiscal year of 2021 which, unlike what you might think, has as the maximum time limit March 21, 2022. If a game is highly anticipated it is very likely that it will arrive within this period, and given the continuous delays in the development of some titles it causes Covid we are witnessing a fiery start to the year.

Not exactly the best of situations, given that our portfolios are paying the price, but also the software houses. Some potentially interesting titles will, in all likelihood, be crushed by the weight of the upcoming giants, who will not give them breath. But what exactly is coming?

Pokémon Legends: Arceus

The first of the most anticipated games of 2022 is Pokémon Legends: Arceus, scheduled for January 28 on Nintendo Switch. In this case we are faced with a really promising product for all fans of the franchise The Pokémon Company, as it promises to offer an open world window on the classic formula of the series. A necessary evolution, for a conservative saga like that of Pokémon.

The title also seems to place a lot of importance on the lore of the game world, given that in the title we find a mention ad Arceus, the creature from which all pocket creatures originated.

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Extraction

Also in January, more precisely on the 20th, will also arrive Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Extraction, the new chapter of the shooter Ubisoft which this time should have a horror-themed twist. The French software house postponed the game right at the beginning of 2022, perhaps putting it in difficulty, if we also consider the other major releases in this period.

King of Fighters XV

We continue our list with the month of February, the real eye of the storm for next year’s major releases. The first to arrive this month will be King of Fitghters XV, February 17, the new chapter of the historic fighting franchise, much loved by fans.

In this we are faced with a rather niche title, and which refers to a specific slice of fans. That said, it is also one of the products that is most likely to be swallowed up by the other releases, which could negatively undermine its arrival on the market, although we are more than sure that the community of players who love the series will not hesitate to take home a copy. .

Horizon: Forbidden West

On February 18th, one of next year’s big hits will arrive: Horizon Forbidden West. Highly anticipated by fans, this second chapter of the adventures of Aloy it will take us to a great new ecosystem, where we will have to deal with indigenous tribes and unprecedented machines ready to cut our teeth at our slightest mistake.

We are more than sure that Horizon: Forbidden West will be able to attract the attention of a large slice of players, even if it is an exclusive product. PlayStation, and it is undeniable that as regards the first months of 2022 it is this title that is among the favorites in terms of sales, of course for more than good reasons.

Sifu

Another unfortunate title will arrive on February 22 regarding the launch period, that is Sifu. In this case it is a really interesting indie based on the passage of time and combat with martial arts. Although the playful sector of the game seems really valid, this game will have to deal with Horizon on the 18th and Elden Ring on the 25th, two competitors that will most likely negatively affect its sales.

Elden Ring

February 25 will be the turn of Elden Ring, the highly anticipated new work by FromSoftware, this time in an open world key. Initially scheduled for January, the game was postponed for a month to allow the studio to complete the final touches, but bringing it in the middle of a down-heated period of its own.

We have already had the opportunity to see the playfulness of the game in closed network test which took place a few weeks ago and, based on what we saw at that juncture, we can confidently say that this is one of the most promising products of next year.

Marvel’s: Midnight Suns

At the end of February, the situation becomes much more relaxed, given that many of the titles arriving in late 2022 are still without a precise launch date. Among the certainties of March, however, we find Marvel’s Midnight Suns, presented to the Gamescom of this year.

The game is proposed as Strategic RPG set in the universe of Marvel super heroes and which could prove to be really interesting if finished properly.

God of War Ragnarok

Always without an official release date, God of War Ragnarok it should also arrive next year. We don’t know much about the game at the moment, as the information has come with a dropper over the past few months.

Among the certainties that we have been able to confirm, however, there is the fact that this second chapter of the reboot of the saga will conclude the Norse events and that, consequently, it should be a video game really full of content.

This was our list of the most anticipated video games of 2022, but we remind you that some of these titles could be subject to further delays, even if the hope is obviously that the situation will improve from next year onwards.
