After the announcement last April, when the developer Crystal Dynamics had made it known that the saga of Tomb Raider would continue with a new game, new news arrives today: the title will be published by Amazon Games.
The company announced it today, issuing a press release in which it says it will give full support to the Crystal Dynamics team.
What we know about the new Tomb Raider game
In the press release the game is described as “a single player adventure with a strong narrative component”. The title will therefore bring us back into the shoes of the iconic Lara Croft and – Amazon Games promises – “it will include all those elements that made the franchise popular”. The company annotated promising that further details will be announced in the future.
At the moment, also based on the April announcement, we know that the new chapter of Tomb Raider will be based on Unreal Engine 5. The software house has been at the helm of the franchise since the 2013 reboot, which then gave rise to the new saga starring Lara Croft (the same narrative line that continues even now). Crystal Dynamics had also developed Shadow of the Tomb Raiderthe last chapter of the franchise released in 2018. The last game signed by the company was instead Marvel’s Avengers (2020).
During its more than twenty-year history (the very first game dates back to 1996) the Tomb Raider saga includes over 20 video games, becoming a cult franchise in the action-adventure genre.
