The days at the Venice Film Festival continue to be intense. The Palace, the new film by Roman Polanski, has also landed in the lagoon
Il Venice Film Festival has now kicked off and among the various cinematographic proposals, the new feature film by Roman Polanskiwhich has decided to bring its new noir comedy, out of competition, to the lagoon, The Palace. On the occasion of the presentation, the protagonists arrived in Venice Milan Peschel, Fortunato Cerlino, Fanny Ardant, Oliver Masucci, Joaquim De Almeida and the manufacturer Luke Barbareschi.

The story takes place at Palace Hotela sumptuous castle in Switzerland, which is preparing to welcome many guests, for the New Year’s Eve 2000. These are very rich people, spoiled and with delusions of grandeur, ready to spend the night in the sumptuous palace. At the service of these, a multitude of porters, waiters, cooks and receptionists are preparing to serve them and their unthinkable needs. Everything must go well, even if it is the dawn of the new millennium and the shadow of the Millennium Bug hovers like an unwanted guest.
The cast of this irreverent comedy is really numerous and can count the already mentioned Fanny Ardant, Joaquim de Almeida, Luca Barbareschi, Milan Peschel e Fortunato Cerlino, present in the lagoon; to these are also added John Cleese, Bronwyn James e Mickey Rourke. The screenplay of the film is signed by Roman Polanskiyes Jerzy Skolimowski it’s yes Ewa Piąskowska. This is a new collaboration between Polanski and Skolimovski, following the 1962 film Knife in the Water, with which Polanski made his directorial debut for the first time. Instead, we find the French composer on the soundtrack Alexandre Desplatfamous for having also composed for other famous films, including Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (2010) and The Shape of Water (2017).

Luca Barbareschi, interviewed about this new comedy, described The Palace as “an ensemble film, an extraordinary fresco of this world, of what it has become. It’s so much more than a comedy.” The Palace, which will be released in Italian theaters from September 28, was anticipated by trailer, able to show the essence of the film, which we leave you above.
