The realme GT3 review: the fastest fast charging in the world

realm has maintained, over the years, an incredible balance between quality and price, offering different types of smartphones suitable for all budgets and needs. Among these, the spearhead of the company is certainly the GT family which he will soon get rich with the realme GT3 and this is its review.

The smartphone was presented in recent days during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona and among the features that we are going to discover here, it boasts the fastest charging ever! Will it be enough to make him a worthy opponent in the rich contemporary market? Let’s find out!

Our review of the realme GT3

Before starting this review, it is urgent to make an important premise, to date we still don’t know what the official price of the realme GT3 is in Italy. Making a brief comparison with the price in dollars (649 dollars), we can hypothesize that Italy too will move along the same lines. This is a necessary preamble that will allow us to see the opportunities that this device reserves for us in the light of the “cost”.

All of course after an inevitable…

Design

With the GT3, realme once again reflects the style of the company with a minimalist design but with something more. Il weight and size of the smartphone put it on a par with the other competitors but the feel returned by the excellent opaque plastic on the back makes it pleasant to handle. The back is entirely white (the available colors will be Pulse White e Booster Black) while the upper part is occupied by the photo sectionor characterized by two large portholes where we find the main objective, the quadrangular chamber and the microscopic one. The camera section is accompanied on the left by a particular transparent area that proudly displays the Snapdragon chipset. This area is also characterized by LED lights which we will discuss later.

The display is large and boasts really thin bezels. We are talking about a 6.74 inch AMOLED flat on the edges, with a resolution that reaches up to 1240 x 2772 pixels and a refresh rate of 144 Hz. Also excellent light output peaking at 1,400 nits and 360Hz touch sampling.

On the sides of the smartphone we find the classic physical audio management buttons, on the left and the power button, on the right. On the bottom we find the drawer for the scheda SIM (Dual SIM), the Type-C input for charging and audio output. And no, despite being one of the few companies still holding out with the Jack entry, realme has decided not to please the realme GT3 with this honor.

Technology

Under the white shell of the realme GT3 we find a very efficient processor Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, one of the most powerful processors on the market. Its efficiency in terms of performance and fluidity is matched only by the ability to manage resources and therefore greater optimization of the drums. The latter amounts to 4600mAh which although it is lower than other models of the company (think of the 5000mAH of the realme 10) is supported by what is currently the fastest fast charge in the world. realme GT 3 indeed boasts a SuperVoc charging at 240w thanks to the charger included in the package. These beautiful figures translate into a full charge from 0 to 100 in about 12 minutes, a truly incredible result.

As for instead “physical” memory and RAM, we have different formulas from 8, 12 or 16 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 512 GB of non-expandable UFS 3.1 internal memory. It ends all one connectivity Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, an infrared emitter and also a 360° NFC sensor which does not require a specific positioning of the mobile phone to work. Finally, the audio output on the bottom of the smartphone supports Dolby Atmos technology.

A separate note should be made for the aforementioned LED rectangle on the back of the smartphone which, in addition to giving a truly unique touch to the smartphone, can also have a notification reporting function and can inform us about the charging and battery situation. In fact, in the settings menu we find specific settings to manage its color, intensity and when and how to activate it. Nothing transcendental, but undoubtedly original!

Photo section

On the camera side, as anticipated, we find three sensors:

  • Main camera from 50 megapixel ƒ/1.9
  • 8 megapixel ƒ/2.2 wide-angle camera
  • And a 2 megapixel ƒ/3.3 microscopic camera

Lthe front camera is instead a 16 megapixel ƒ / 2.5.

Overall the camera moves very well. The large main sensor, Sony IMX890 da 50 megapixel, is able to capture a large amount of light giving us excellent shots even with not particularly favorable light conditions. In extreme cases, the night mode will do the job. In the same way, the wide-angle camera and “the one for selfies” also move, which has given us particular satisfaction. A different matter however must be made for the Zoom that arrives, digitally up to 20X which could not even be there.

Video side, the smartphone is capable of recording up to 4K 60 fps for the main camera while the wide angle stops at 1080p and 30 fps. Praise must be made for the optical and electronic stabilization which return perfect videos even in situations of movement, the focus is also excellent. Overall, it is a respectable photographic sector that will be able to make most of us happy.

Our test of the GT3 realm

realme GT3 review 1

To carry out this review, we tested the realme GT3 for about two weeks during which he accompanied us on a daily basis also during our stay at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Here we had the opportunity to test the smartphone in the best situation to understand the real potential of a device while travelling!

Returning from many realme, we have pleasantly noted that the company’s focus on its devices has not diminished. The material performance of the smartphone is excellent and while lacking IP certification against water and dust, it seemed resistant to us (we didn’t use a cover, yes, we are monsters). The yield of performances in any area is also excellent: video games, films, surfing the net, editing videos or other, the Snapdragon 8 processor is practically the best currently available and with good reason.

The 240 W fast charge is sensational which we are sure will set a new standard on the market. Even if the battery capacity doesn’t reach top-of-the-range levels, spending a handful of minutes (literally) to see the battery skyrocket is an acceptable small sacrifice.

The camera situation didn’t particularly upset us, especially looking at the wide angle which could have deserved more attention. Overall, however, the rendering of videos and images satisfied us and even if it does not stand out in the top-of-the-range market, it is more than sufficient for normal use of the device.

The realme GT3 review in a nutshell

Speaking of Top of the Range, we are not sure that the realme GT3 can be classified in this category but it certainly comes very close. A mix of performance, design, efficiency and autonomy make it a truly excellent smartphone suitable for everyone.

If the price, which we recall is not yet official in Italy, remains at €649, it could be a great deal to take a leap forward and enjoy a charged mobile phone in a few minutes

Besides, everyone likes bright LEDs, right?!
