The Villa Medici Film Festival unveils the selection of films in competition for its second edition
And Wednesday 14 until Sunday 18 September 2022 the 14 films competing for the second edition of the Villa Medici Film Festival will be presented in Rome.
It’s about a international competition that includes all times and all genres and, this year, it includes 2 films presented in world premiere and 9 in Italian premiere.
Since its first edition, the Festival brings together a community of authors and cinephiles at Villa Medici with the aim of cultivating a collective thought around cinema and its evolutions.
Also this year at Villa Medici in Rome, there will be an appointment for artists, directors and thinkers from all continentsto celebrate the vitality of contemporary cinematographic practices through a selection of proposals that embrace all genres, and will stand out for the originality of the discourse or form.
The structure of the second edition of the Villa Medici Film Festival
In an era in which storytelling is at best a working tool and at worst a weapon of war, contemporary artists and directors are necessarily confronted with the question of narrative, intimate or political, in a reflective movement which questions the very matter of their art. Each of the competing works subverts in its own way the codes of these individual or collective stories.
Also in this second edition the festival will be divided into three sections: the International Competition in which the films in competition will be presented, the Focus selection which will include Masterclasses, exclusive meetings and out-of-competition screenings and the Great Evenings of the Piazzale which bring together the general public for outdoor screenings of unreleased films, previews and major cinema classics in a restored version.
This new edition of the Festival will take us to discover worlds near and far to shed light on contemporary issues.
