The smartphone market slows down registering a real collapse during the third quarter of 2022. As revealed by Counterpoint Research data, in fact, the sector returned to 2014 levels, recording an abrupt stop compared to last year.
The smartphone market records a real slump in the third quarter of 2022
With around 301 million units sold worldwide, the third quarter of 2022 closes with a 12% decline for the smartphone market. This is the lowest figure recorded by the entire sector in recent years. The market, in fact, has returned to the levels of 2014. The data provided by Counterpoint Research best photograph the results of the entire smartphone market over the last few months.
Only Apple records positive data during the third quarter but also the unbridled growth of the Cupertino house must come to terms with reality. For Applein fact, sales grew “only” by + 2%. Samsung, which continues to lead the market with 64 million units sold, records a decline of -8%. Chinese brands collapse like OPPO e Vivo which both recorded a decrease of -23%. Bad too Xiaomi which has to deal with a drop of -9%. For the rest of the market, however, the decline is -15%.
