Amsterdam – The2022 edition of TwitchCon of Amsterdam, la fair dedicated to the world of Twitch streamers and its vast, vast audience. After two years of hiatus, the European event is back with great energy and a slew of well-known streamers and reminded us of what makes the world of Twitch special. The most famous and used live streaming platform in the world has in fact become for many a real “place” for people, values and passions to meet and TwitchCon was none other than the physical representation of the rich world behind the “Start Direct” button.
Soul and body of TwitchCon 2022
The TwitchCon in Amsterdam it was the setting for many events, meetings and challenges for the public there. Not only streamers and journalists but also fans and users from various parts of Europe and the world. We all met at the RAI in Amsterdam, the city’s convention center, for two days (16 and 17 July) during which lights, music and colors welcomed us in a continuous flow of meetings and events. From “lessons” to start our career as a streamer to various DJ sets, from the Ultimate Challenges of some of the most famous streamers to Drag Shows.
An incredible mix of identity and reality ready to meet and offer entertainment and knowledge to an ever growing and interested audience. In these two days we have witnessed the concrete demonstration of the potential of Twitch, a constantly growing platform that has proved to be a happy island for many. Especially in the last few years of the pandemic, the platform has experienced exponential growth with thousands of new streamers taking refuge in Twitch’s purple virtual walls to give or ask for company.
The return to attendance struck us as a breath of fresh air and returning to talk to people and streamers, without a screen in front, was certainly the highlight of the event. From Casa Nostra, some of the most important streamers like Kurolily, Teren e Pow3r while internationally we had the pleasure of meeting Nihachu, Elesky e JeelTV. Well-known faces, less well-known faces or those who do not want notoriety at all, all were welcome.
At the end of the fair …
There is no fair in the world like TwitcCon. While video games are, also by the nature of Twitch itself, an important theme, we have not seen any unexpected announcements. No crazy trailers were shown and no industry representative appeared on stage accompanied by catchy techno music. Because deep down, in the face of those who say that technology is alienating us, TwitchCon is a trade show dedicated to people; to whoever is behind the webcam and whoever observes, all united by one great strength: passion.
