Two The Witcher spin-offs canceled by Netflix. Meanwhile, the fourth season of the main series has entered production
Two of the spin-offs of The Witcher in program su Netflix have been deleted from the streaming platform: The Rats and an as-yet-untitled children's spin-off. The news comes as the flagship series has begun filming its fourth season, featuring Liam Hemsworth (Hunger Games) who replaced Henry Cavill in the role of Geralt of Rivia. The Rats, a prequel to the main series, was supposed to tell the story of a gang of young misfits introduced in the finale of the third season. Despite the cancellation, themain universe continues to expand on other fronts. Netflix has in fact confirmed that the series will end with fifth season, which will once again feature Hemsworth as Geralt. Furthermore, by the end of the year, the second animated film, entitled Sirens of the Deepfollowing the success of 2021's The Nightmare of the Wolf.
The Witcher: new animated films in sight
The TV series is based on the novels and short stories by Andrzej Sapkowski. There is executive production Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, who is also a creator. Princess Ciri will continue to play the role of Ciri, while Joey Batey it's going to be Jaskier and Anya Chalotra will have the role of Yennefer of Vengerberg. The farewell to the spin-offs therefore does not represent the end for the series. Indeed, the arrival of new animated films and the conclusion of the main series with Liam Hemsworth seem to suggest a future full of news for fans of this world fantasy.
It remains to be seen whether Netflix's choice to cancel the spin-offs will prove to be the right one. The Rats, in particular, had aroused great interest among fans, intrigued by the idea of delving deeper into the stories of these new characters.
