CD Projekt announced The Witcher: Monster Slayer last year, promising a game that combines the traps and puzzles of the series with the kind of augmented reality gameplay that Pokémon Go popularized in mobile, now the game has a release date. The Witcher: Monster Slayer will be launched for devices iOS e Android at the end of this month, the release date is set for Wednesday July 21. Players “will be involved in location-based gameplay and advanced features of augmented reality to track down and hunt bloodthirsty monsters lurking nearby ”. CD Projekt and developer Spokko describe it as an “augmented reality RPG”, so it should be interesting to see how it all works out in practice.

Meanwhile, pre-registrations for the aforementioned game are already open on the Google Play Store for Android devices. Anyone who pre-registers will get the Kaer Morhen Steel Sword in-game at launch. The latter will grant a 10% increase to the gain of experience points earned from killing monsters. In the meantime, if you’ve been waiting for The Witcher’s next main game, you’ll probably have to keep waiting a bit. Although The Witcher 4 is the next in line for CD Projekt RED, it will probably take some time before the software house is unbalanced with official statements. Definitely don’t expect an announcement at the WitcherCon next week. Only in recent weeks, the giant of video games made in Europe has declared that it has finally fixed the state it was in Cyberpunk 2077.
