It seems like yesterday that we entered 2023, but it’s already been a month! We say hello January and welcome February with our column of the best upcoming games. Are you ready to discover the new lineup?
Among the new arrivals, the place of honor goes, without a doubt, to the eagerly awaited Hogwarts Legacy. The title made us wait, but we’re sure it’s worth it: we’ll finally be able to create our alter-ego and explore the school of witchcraft and wizardry like we’ve never seen it before. Our choices will affect our style of play, relationships with other students and faculty, and the world around us. But at Hogwarts it’s not all fun and games: we will have to investigate a mysterious magical power, much coveted by the dark forces… Among the best video games of February 2023 there is certainly also Octopath Traveler II. After the success of the first episode the retro-style fantasy adventure returns to Nintendo Switch with new characters and new worlds to explore. Have you already met the huntress Ochette and the pharmacist Castti?
February 2023 brings with it an incredible news: it finally arrives in the West Like a Dragon: Were!, spin-off of the famous series Yakuza. We will find all our favorite characters but in a very particular guise: the game is set in the Bakumatsu period, or the last years of the Edo dynasty, a period of political and social instability. The protagonist Sakamoto Ryōma, seeking justice for the killing of his mentor, will find himself entangled in a coup d’état that will lead him to (s)confront powerful enemies and allies. We point out another interesting novelty: Wild Hearts, a title that winks at Monster Hunter fans and will surely please fans of titles such as Shadows of the Colosssus, Nioh and Bloodborne. Set in a setting inspired by Japan, the hunting method is very original: it is in fact inspired by Karakuri, an artisan technique that allows you to create mechanisms and automatons. Definitely an original idea, which we are ready to try firsthand.
Among the novelties it stands out Horizon Call of the Mountain, spin-off of the series of the same name which, however, does not see Aloy as the protagonist. In this case we will take on the role of Ryas, a former Carja rebel condemned to atone for his crimes by joining an expedition sent to investigate a new threat to Sundom. An expert archer, Ryas on his journey will meet characters from the original franchise and will have to explore far and wide to fulfill his mission.
For the series “welcome returns” among the best outgoing video games we propose Tales of Symphonia Remastered e Life is Strange 2. The first is the revised and corrected version of the title released for the Nintendo GameCube in 2003, and sees the protagonist Lloyd Irving and his companions committed to saving the world of Sylvarant from the menace of the Desiani. The second is the Nintendo Switch port of the title of the same name originally released on PlayStation 4: if you haven’t had the opportunity to play this touching story of brotherly love, we invite you to take advantage of it!
