Disney publishes a first synopsis and a photo of Tron 3 (Ares), the sequel directed by Joachim Rønnin and starring Jared Leto, Greta Lee, Evan Peters and Gillian Anderson
Disney and actor Jared Leto recently released a first photo of the director’s Tron: Ares Joachim Rønnin (Pirates of the Caribbean – Salazar’s Revenge, Maleficent – Mistress of Evil), sequel which marks the third big screen film of the franchise launched way back in 1982.
The image is accompanied by a statement from the director who says he is excited to bring this new film to fans around the world. Tron: Ares builds on the legacy of cutting-edge design, technology and storytelling seen in its predecessors. The film written by Jesse Wigutow e Jack Thornefollows a highly sophisticated program, Ares, which is sent from the digital world to the real one on a dangerous mission, marking humanity’s first encounter with AI beings.
Ares sees in the cast Jared Leto, Greta Lee, Evan Peters, Hasan Minhaj, Jodie Turner-Smith, Arturo Castro, Cameron Monaghan e Gillian Anderson. And also Sean Bailey, Jeffrey Silver, Justin Springer and Emma Ludbrook, who had already collaborated with Jared Leto in the not exceptional Morbius.

We want to make sure we have a movie that fulfills the ambitions of the things that came before it, and I think now the ideas that we explored in TRON and how you would imagine those ideas to evolve are more relevant than they’ve ever been. So it seems like the right time…but we have to get it right. We have to understand the history and we have to find the right team. And so there’s still some way to go before we have much to say about the film.
During a previous interview, director Joseph Kosinski was asked about his big directorial debut with Tron: Legacy, and during that conversation, he revealed that he met the director of Tron: Ares and said that the film will be partially related to the version of the film he was working on.
