According to a persistent rumor, Ubisoft has plans for sequels for Prince of Persia and Immortals Fenix Rising
With a E3 in “physical edition” once again skipped for this year and plans for a streaming broadcast of the event still uncertain, all eyes of the community are on videogame publisher. In fact, we have been wondering for some time how the latter can continue to fill the void left by the most famous showcase in the sector. According to a new report, Ubisoft it would currently be preparing a separate “massive” event in which it could reveal the sequel not announced of Prince of Persia and of Immortals Fenix Rising. Will Prince of Persia and Immortals Fenix Rising return to prominence with sequels? Well yes! (At least according to Tom Henderson)
According to the well-known (and reliable) leaker Tom Hendersonwhich cites “several sources aware of Ubisoft’s upcoming release plans” in an article on Xfire, the French giant would currently have about 20 games in production and ready for some sort of announcement in the “near future”. Most of these we already know: Assassin’s Creed Infinity, Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope and Beyond Good and Evil 2.
But it doesn’t end there: it is rumored that the mysterious “Assassin’s Creed Rift“, Will be unveiled, and a third episode in the racing series is reportedly on the way The Crew (currently called Project Orlando). Henderson also reports a sequel to Prince of Persia and one of 2020’s fun Greek mythology themed open world adventure, Immortals Fenyx Rising. Ubisoft is currently hiring staff for this latest pre-production title.
Perhaps the most interesting rumor of all, however, is that Ubisoft Montpellier is working on a new Prince of Persia title, independent of the troubled remake of The sands of time from Ubisoft Pune, which will reportedly be a 2.5D game which “goes back to Ori”.
As for when these projects could be formally announced, nothing is clear at the moment. Some titles, like The Division Heartland, are expected in the next 12 months, while others are apparently much further away. However, Henderson appears to believe that at least some of these may emerge in the aforementioned “massive” showcase event that Ubisoft has planned.
Unfortunately, even the details of the latter remain a mystery, with the event presumably a third entry into the annual showcase of theUbisoft Forward. The latter was originally scheduled to open this year’s E3 to “prevent game ads from being stifled by the competition.” However, it has previously been reported that these plans have been put on hold, due to “recent world events”.
