Bad news for fans of Ubisoft video games. The company has indeed announced a new delay in the release of Skull and Bones, whose release has been announced and duly rejected several times. Today Ubisoft promised that the game will officially release in 2024.
But the disastrous news doesn’t end there. The popular software house has announced that three other games, which were currently in development, have been permanently deleted.
What we know about the release of Skull and Bones and deleted games
Originally announced at the E3 2017 press conference, development of Skull and Bones has been plagued by numerous delays. The last confirmed date had been announced in September 2022, when Ubisoft had announced that the release of Skull and Bones would take place on March 9, 2023. Today, however, the new about-face: “the game will be released in 2024”.
In announcing that the title will officially see the light of day next year, Ubisoft justified the delays by speaking of “major challenges as the industry continues to move towards mega-brands and long-lasting titles”. The company added that the delay will allow for “a much more refined and balanced experience and to create awareness”, promising that players will be “positively surprised by its evolution”. Recall that, in the meantime, the pre-order of Skull and Bones had already been opened.
Little is known instead of the three canceled games, as it is about titles not yet officially announced but already under development. Already during 2022 Ubisoft had canceled four other unannounced games.
