Aloy triumphs, Pokémon Legends Arceus tonfa: the British sales figures for video games in physical format are finally back
This time we took our leave of sales data for much longer than expected, but at least now we have a census for i again video games about the week just ended. In fact, the reportage of GamesIndustry.biz on the sums drawn by the British institution GfK draws an impassable line between “the previous episode” and “last week”. For the rest, however, things always remain the same: the reference format, specifically, is that physicist. The results for digital sales, on the other hand, only arrive late in the week. We can finally get started, at least!
The forbidden charm of the west
This week’s sales data gold medal is all for Horizon Forbidden West, the second most successful launch for PS5 video games. While not touching the unattainable peaks of Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, the title still managed to surpass the figures of FIFA 22. 68% of sales were recorded on PS5, while the remainder went to the other format. The numbers at launch are still 35% below the predecessor, Horizon Zero Dawn (2017). You already know the PS5 spiel: sales depend on the availability of consoles, so expect continuous ups and downs in the coming months.
The latter are tough and irrepressible, all different – Sales figures for video games
If you were following our sales figures to know what happened to Arceus Pokémon Legends, you can sleep comfortably between two pillows: in terms of speed in flying off the shelves, the Game Freak title has far surpassed all other video games. 2022 may have just begun, but the youngest son of the most lucrative franchise in the world has been in the lead for three consecutive weeks. As far as GamesIndustry.biz gives us, those of this week (the one just ended, we mean) are the first downward results. In fact, sales fell by 52%.
Wall Climber and Leaderboard Climber – Video Game Sales Data
Do you remember what we said about the latch just two paragraphs ago? Here, the arrival of Horizon Forbidden West also brings with it the arrival of other PS5 units, and the aforementioned Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales he could not help but benefit from it. The title dedicated to the second great wall climber brought to the console by Insomniac Games goes up by fifteen positions. The 90% increase in sales has indeed brought it to twelfth place. Speaking of other titles that unfortunately you will not see in our table at the end of the article, we have Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apartwhich falls into the top 40 with a decent twentieth place.
Ezio “boia dé” Auditore and other stories – Sales figures for video games
Just below Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart we have Assassin’s Creed: The Ezio Collection. The re-entry of Ezio Auditore da Firenze takes place in twenty-first position, following the release of the Nintendo Switch version of the collection. Moving on to other titles born in the dear Old Continent, we have Cyberpunk 2077. Now the game finally boasts a native version for Xbox Series X and S and PS5, which means sales of the ill-fated CD Projekt title have received a nice 271% momentum bringing it back to the rankings in 23rd place.
King of the strokes and final printouts
The other new title among the video games protagonists of our sales figures is The King of Fighters XV, which debuts in thirtieth position with 53% of sales on PS5, 25% on PS4 and the remaining 23% on Xbox family platforms. All that remains is to leave you to our usual one table. For those of you who are new to the interpretation, know that this week’s rankings (that is, the one just ended) are at the center. The column on the left, on the other hand, concerns the previous one (i.e. the data that remained exclusive to GfK and collected last week). Have a good consultation!
