It looks like the much-rumored reboot of the Twilight saga will take the form of an animated series
Lionsgate confirmed that during the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media & Telecom conference the much talked about Twilight reboot will be made in the form of an animated series. Already last spring the news about a Twilight television series had been spreading. Many thought it was a live-action series. However, the latest news on the project reveals that the series in question was always intended as an animation project. Obviously it is not yet known what animated style will be adopted for the Twilight series, however it is worth noting that the original books of the saga gave rise to graphic novels inspired by the world of manga.
Will the Twilight animated series be a reboot or spin-off?
It is not yet very clear whether the animated series will be a complete reboot of Stephanie Meyer’s novel series, or if it will be a sort of spin-off, a derivation, but set in the same universe. Meyer could be involved in the television project, as there are currently no known showrunners, crew or cast. The series will be executive produced by Wyck Godfrey and former Lionsgate Motion Picture Group co-president Erik Feig. The latest extension of the Twilight saga arrived in 2020 with the publication of the novel Midnight Sun. It is a novel that narrates the events of Twilight from Edward’s point of view. The novel was conceived by the writer during the writing of the original storyHowever, after the manuscript was leaked online, Mayer abandoned plans to publish it, only to reverse her decision years later. We still don’t know if Lionsgate will decide to transpose this version of the story into a film or series.
