It’s “the best at what it does”, and on PS5 Wolverine will be really “enjoyable”: same universe as Marvel’s Spider-Man, Insomniac confirms!
Since its reveal two years ago, the game of Wolverine signed Insomniac Games and in the pipeline for PS5 was at the center of a specific question: theuniverse narrative must necessarily be the same as Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Right? Moreover, given the qualities of the adventure of the hero in red and blue released on October 20th (provided we don’t have to specify which one), it would be a bit of a waste to throw away that world-building in favor of a game world created ex novo (or should we say X-novo?), and the development team wanted to quickly allay the fears of the True Believers listening. In the interview written by Kinda Funnyreported below in the salient moment, Bryan Intihar confirmed the players’ hopes: yes, the game world is the same!
No separate universe for Wolverine: the world of Marvel’s Spider-Man returns in the PS5 exclusive!
Host Greg Miller asked Insomniac’s Intihar if the game’s land was the same as the two web-slingers. The director replied that “they are all from 1048. If I understand the question correctly, of course, yes.” In the case, the number alludes to the fact that Terra-1048 is the official name of the Marvel universe dedicated to Sony exclusive games in the House of Ideas multiverse (both Marvel and DC use similar codes). Earth-616 is the canon world of the comics, for example, while Earth-199999 is the Marvel Cinematic Universe (contrary to what is said in the films, ed.). Whether this translates into nods to Spidey, then, remains to be seen. Insomniac’s New York has no shortage of references, such as Avengers Tower, the Sanctum Sanctorum and the Wakandan embassy. All we know about the Wolverine game is that it will be aPS5 exclusive and what will be, inevitably, a very red PEGI 18+.
