Xperia 5 IV: Sony does not leave the field?
Sony has always been a weird player in the smartphone market. After a brief period of enjoying the limelight, it looked like the company’s mobile business was about to sink. So far, however, it has outgrown LG and still need i main high-end markets.
The company does not make a huge profit from the smartphone sale but Sony doesn’t seem worried anyway. She also once explained that she sees smartphones more like a hub for a smart home ecosystem rather than as one category of independent devices that needs to grow.
Many believe that Sony it won’t last long in this field. However, a series of rumors regarding one of its upcoming models indicate that the company has no plans to give up and many Android users are quite curious.
The Xperia 5 series has always been weird. The name would suggest a mid-range phone but that distinction belongs to the Xperia 10 line. Instead, the Xperia 5 is what some would consider a “mini flagship”, with high-end specifications in a slightly smaller size.
The Xperia 5 III last year, for example, was technically one smaller version of the Xperia 1 III, with some corresponding lower specifications. It worked with the same Snapdragon 888 5G but the screen gives 6.1 inch 21: 9 only reached one maximum resolution of 2520 × 1080 pixels. The model did not have a RAM option from 12GB. However, the hardware features, including the cameras and the jack for headphones, they largely mirrored the specifications of its big brother.
It was a good phone on paperand it seems Sony has no plans to change its magic formula.
According to the latest rumors, the next Xperia 5 IV will be very similar to its predecessor, theXperia 5III. Most likely they will same 6.1-inch screen and the triple 12MP camera. The biggest differences will presumably be Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plusa small iteration from the current chipset, and a larger battery capacity of the 4,500 mAh offered in the Xperia 5 III. Of course, this would lead to comparisons with the model’s closest rival, the Galaxy S22.
However, Sony may even surpass Samsung.
In addition to a more powerful processor, at least on paper, the Xperia 5 IV’s battery easily exceeds the meager capacity of 3,700 mAh of the Galaxy S22. The fact that he still has a headphone jackat least according to rumors, it’s a huge plus, especially for audiophiles.
Sony’s smartphones, however, boast rather high prices, much more than its competitors. It is also not known for its speed when it comes to publishing Android updates. We currently don’t have a launch window for this model yet.
