The company is not only inundated with legal cases, but has also been forced to rename some areas of one of their flagship games, World of Warcraft (specifically Mac’Aree, which was named after the designer Jesse McCree, involved in the scandal. ), and some Overwatch characters (we already told you about the fate of virtual cowboy Jesse McCree in another article) to avoid further protests. A lawsuit of this magnitude could bring to the mind of industry veterans the GamerGate of 2014, which served as a trailblazer for reports of harassment by women in the gaming world.

The first BlizzCon was 16 years ago, and a lot has changed since then – most noticeable is certainly the multiplicity of ways in which players and communities can come together and feel part of something bigger.
