Ahead of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship 2021/22, the British racing team Jaguar Racing has announced a change of name and livery. With the accession of Tata Consultancy Services as title partner, the team will be known as Jaguar TCS Racing.
The rebranding of the team includes a revised livery Jaguar I-TYPE 5 racing car which will participate in the upcoming Formula E season. In addition, Jaguar TCS Racing has received further prominence within the motorsport division recently launched by Jaguar Land Rover as part of the company’s “Reimagine” strategy. Jaguar TCS Racing’s goal is to “Reimagining racing” and use this highly relevant motorsport activity to test, learn, develop, collaborate and share innovations, including cutting-edge electric vehicle technologies in Jaguar Land Rover, to benefit the future development of road cars. In particular, knowledge and technology transfer from Formula E will help “reimagine” the Jaguar brand as an all-electric luxury brand from 2025, coinciding with the company’s commitment to the Gen3 era of Formula E.
As part of the reorganization, James Barclay takes on the role of CEO of Jaguar Land Rover Motorsport Limited as well as the role of team principal of Jaguar TCS Racing. Jaguar Land Rover CEO Thierry Bolloré becomes president of the new organization. All future opportunities and benefits for the Jaguar and Land Rover brands will be explored through this newly formed division.
Jaguar TSC Rancing for the new Formula E championship does not change the drivers
Heading into the final Gen2 season following the team’s most successful Formula E campaign, which saw Jaguar Racing finish second in the World Team Championship, the British team boasts a highly competitive and efficient race car in the Jaguar I-TYPE 5, and one of the strongest pairings of drivers with Sam Bird e Mitch Evans that return to deliver speed, consistency and a great value Formula E experience.
Formula E remains a key priority for Jaguar Land Rover and the company’s “Reimagine” strategy. As the only fully electric world championship, Formula E offers an environment to test and develop new technologies for electric vehicles in a high-performance environment.
