From the creators of Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey a horror remake of another Disney classic like Bambi is coming
The trend of making Disney’s great animated masterpieces more macabre is literally going crazy. The horror version of Winnie the Pooh has been talked about for some time now and, according to what Collider reports, the director of Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey, Rhys Frake-Waterfield, is working on a remake horror even Bambi. After the tender teddy bear greedy for honey, even the little orphaned roe deer seems destined to have its own horror version: certainly an ambitious operation, considering that at the time of its release, in 1942, Bambi was a huge success, reaching also home to three Academy Awards.
Winnie the Pooh and Bambi: when Disney becomes horror
The creatives behind the two projects are the same and will play a key role in the project Rhys Drake-Waterfield, director of Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey and producer of the remake of Bambi. The direction should be entrusted, instead, to Scott Jeffreywho revealed in an interview with Dread Central that he wants to make Disney’s roe a killing machine hidden in the desert.
Disney’s horror adaptations don’t stop there, because even another classic could have its own bloody and macabre version. It’s about Peter Pan, whose horror remake has been proposed as an analysis of the dark side of the child who did not want to become an adult. It is certainly a growing trend, the release of Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey will certainly be a litmus test to understand the public’s approval and to understand if films of this kind can have a future. Many ideas are buzzing at the moment, an important date will be that of February 15, 2023when the horror film about the Disney bear will be released in US cinemas, a film that can really lead the way to a very broad trend.
