Packaging and build quality | Huawei Matepad SE review
The tablet arrives in an essential package but at the same time equipped with everything you need. frompower supply, included and 10W, the USB-C cable and all the traditional manuals on duty. From an aesthetic point of view, the tablet brings with it a minimal but at the same time functional and ergonomic solution thanks to the suns 440 grams of weight. The materials are in fact almost exclusively made of plastic, which while on the one hand can make you lose the feeling of premium quality, on the other hand guarantees an easier grip and less fatigue, a factor that is certainly more relevant for the writer. The buttons, as with most tablets, are all on the same side and very close to each other, so you could make a mistake. Then present the holes for the due speaker stereo and the USB Type-C port in version 2.0.
Hardware and displays | Huawei Matepad SE review
The tablet is powered by a 6nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 SoC and 4GB of RAM. Not an endowment to make people cry out for a miracle, but more than enough for the price range and able to perform any task without too many problems. There will be some sporadic lag, but nothing that can really compromise daily use. Then we find a panel from 10.4 ″ with IPS technology HUAWEI Eye Comfort FullView and 2K resolution. The quality is average, blacks and viewing angles have some compromises, but even here the level is absolutely in line with the price range. Indeed, the display even offers certifications Low Blue Light e Flicker Free issued by TÜV Rheinland. In fact, watching a movie or a TV series will be more than pleasant, thanks also to the aforementioned two stereo speakers with technology Huawei Histen 8.0. The latter are characterized by a full-bodied and elevated sound, especially in relation to the price range. A small note for the cameras, the 5 MP rear and the 2 MP front, not of the highest level but still able to support a video call or an emergency shot.
Software and autonomy | Huawei Matepad SE review
Precisely in this field the tablet gives its best, thanks to an optimized and feature-rich software. Of course because of the known in USA the Google apps (Google Play, YouTube, Gmail, etc.) will not be available, however the work done by Huawei to make up for this lack over the years has been more than excellent. We have dozens of alternatives, including the official store AppGallery and the search engine Petal Search, finding a replacement for your favorite app won’t be a problem at all. Also, given the very nature of the device, using apps in the form of web apps won’t be that complicated. A note of merit also goes to the user interface, which, even if it seems “already seen”, still contributes to making the user experience pleasant and satisfying thanks to unique features such as Super-Device or widget overlay. Finally, the same goes for the battery, sufficiently large and able to last for approx two days of intense use between web browsing and multimedia use. Too bad only for the recharge, at 10W and rather slow.
Conclusions
Ultimately, this Huawei Matepad 10.4 proves to have all the credentials to be defined as a good “company” tablet. At list price of 199,99€ is fully capable of handling social, web or multimedia usage. At the same time, it does not represent a valid alternative for more intense or working uses, for which higher-end models naturally exist, such as the Matepad 11 or Pro. For all the rest, this tablet remains more than recommended, thanks also to the numerous offers continuously proposed by Huawei on its official store. Keep an eye on it!
