Also arriving on November 15th is the cult western “A Fistful of Dollars” (1964), the first chapter of the Dollar Trilogy directed by Sergio Leone and starring Clint Eastwood, published for the 4Kult series in 4K Ultra HD, also containing a exclusive numbered collector’s card. The film is also available in two new DVD and Blu-ray editions with previously unreleased extra content. With the unforgettable music of Oscar winner Ennio Morricone (winner of the Nastro d’Argento for best soundtrack), the film raises Clint Eastwood to the status of a new hero and opens new horizons compared to classic American westerns, becoming a cornerstone of the spaghetti western genre. Inspired by Akira Kurosawa’s “The Battle of the Samurai”, “A Fistful of Dollars” tells of a lone gunman who arrives in a town on the border between the United States and Mexico where the Rojos and the Baxters compete for control of the liquor and weapons. From November 23rd, the masquerade melodrama “Jeanne Du Barry – The King’s Favorite” will be available on DVD and Blu-ray. marks the great return to the scene of star Johnny Depp in the role of King Louis XV of France. Opening film of the 76th edition of the Cannes Film Festival, “Jeanne Du Barry – The King’s Favorite” is a story of female emancipation, directed and starring Maïwenn, here in the fascinating guise of a young courtesan. The special box set “Montalbano – The complete series” in DVD format will be released on November 23rd, which includes all 37 films of the TV drama taken from the famous novels by Andrea Camilleri. An unmissable edition full of extra content, hosted on a special DVD, which also includes an in-depth booklet, an exclusive numbered card and a special gadget, a bookmark dedicated to the beloved protagonist. The public met Inspector Montalbano for the first time in 1994 when Andrea Camilleri published the novel The Shape of Water, while the first episode of the fiction, entitled “Inspector Montalbano: The Snack Thief”, was broadcast on TV in 1999.
During its twenty-year run, the series was acclaimed by television critics for the charm of the settings, the writing of the stories told and the charisma of the characters. The drama also achieved record results in terms of audience, establishing itself as the most followed series on the contemporary Italian television scene, broadcast in more than 20 countries around the world. “Inspector Montalbano” tells the story of Salvo Montalbano, the sharp-witted police commissioner in the fictional Sicilian town of Vigata, in each episode dealing with mafia crimes, murders and kidnappings. Thanks to his profound intuition and strong investigative acumen, the antihero Montalbano always manages to sniff out the right lead.
