Sony launched its new camera today Sony Alpha 9 IIIwhich boasts the world’s first full-frame image sensor with global shutter.
This technology allows you to capture sharp, distortion-free images at a speed of 120 fps, eliminating the delay between shooting and viewing. Furthermore, thanks to the AI-based autofocus system, which calculates focus and exposure up to 120 times per second, and flash synchronization at any shooting speed, the Alpha 9 III offers professional photographers a range of unprecedented creative possibilities.
Main features of the new Sony Alpha 9 III
The Sony Alpha 9 III is equipped with a C image sensorMOS stacked full-frame con global shutter, one of a kind, which has a resolution of approximately 24.6 megapixels and integrated memory. The sensor is combined with the BIONZ XR image processor, Sony’s most advanced. This combination ensures latency-free continuous shooting performance with AF/AE tracking up to approximately 120 fps. Additionally, the camera features a high-density focal plane phase detection autofocus system. A dedicated AI-based processing unit uses real-time recognition AF to identify a wide range of subjects with high precision. This allows you to easily capture decisive moments that escape the human eye.
The Alpha 9 III’s AI-based processing unit dramatically improves human eye recognition performance with Real-time Recognition AF and Real-time Tracking, which automatically detect, track and focus on eyes of a particular subject. The Alpha 9 III also has a 5-axis optical image stabilization system up to 8.0 stops, for superior image quality.
The Pre-Capture function and extended focus areas
The Sony Alpha 9 III has a latency selection mode that allows the user to choose whether to prioritize shutter release delay or viewfinder/screen display. Also new is the Pre-Capture function, which allows the user to record the moments before pressing the shutter, up to 1 second before. Furthermore, with the Continuous Shooting Speed Boost function, you can vary the continuous shooting speed and increase the continuous shooting speed, so you don’t miss important moments. This is also made possible by the buffer capacity and the improvement in the overall speed of the system, which allow you to shoot up to approximately 390 Fine JPEG images in a single continuous sequence at 30 fps.
The customizable focus areas have been extended and now range from XS to XL, whereas previously they were only S, M and L. The Preset Focus/Zoom function allows you to pre-set the focus and zoom and save the preferences, so you can quickly restore them when needed. In addition to the available sizes for white balance customization, the user can now choose additional options. These allow for precise balance adjustments, even after composing the image.
The Alpha 9 III also has the most innovative features in its category, such as the latest AF algorithms, which guarantee extremely precise autofocus even in low light levels, down to EV-5 in AF-S mode (equivalent to ISO 100, F2.0 optics), AF tracking for continuous shooting at F22 and a composition function for RAW shooting, which allows you to merge multiple consecutive frames into a high-quality composite image.
Sony Alpha 9 III: when does it arrive on the market?
