Fujifilm has unveiled the 15 winning projects and the respective authors of GFX Challenge 2023. The jury awarded the work of the photographers, selected from over two thousand participants, over a period of over two months. Among the winners, there is the Italian Vanessa Vettorello.

After two regional rounds, five guest judges named the winners. Among the five winners of the Global Grant Award there is Vanessa Vettorello from Italy, awarded for her project “Wandering star“. Other winners include Jodi Windvogel (South Africa) with “The Body at Risk“, Juan Carlos Reyes (Mexico) with “Guardians of Mother Language“, Markus Naarttijärvi (Sweden) with “Hinterland” e Shina Peng (Taiwan) with “Furusato“.
The Fujifilm GFX Challenge Grant Program awards 5 Global Grant Award e 10 Regional Grant Award to concretely support photographers, videomakers and young creatives.
For the Regional Grant Awardwinners include Alex Velasco (United States) with the project “The Golden Grain“, Dike Su (Mainland China) with “Sight of Storm“, Jatenipat Ketpradit (Thailand) with “People and Their World: Tsam · The Dance of Gods“, Jerick “Anyo” Collantes (Canada) with “Athletes of God“, Junghoon O (Korea) with “Unseen Echoes: Capturing the Unseen Symphony of Human Gestures“, Kaylah Sambo (USA) with “The Bodies We Are Born With“, Large Django (France) with “The Masters of Time“, Mislav Mesek (Croatia) with “Soundscape of Croatia – Roadtrip“, Santiago Javier Bazan (Argentina) with “Thorns“, Seokjun Yun (Korea) with “Structures of Solitude: The Desert Towers Project“.
The Italian winner Vanessa Vettorello and her “Wandering Star”
Vanessa Vettorelloborn in 1985already in 2017 was selected forEddie Adams Workshop XXX in New York and is a member of Women Photograph. She uses her background in psychology to explore notions of perception, identity and modernity. His projects are exhibited at The Arles Meetingsal Turin Cinema Museumat the Marangoni Foundation in Florence e all’Head On Festival a Sydney.
The judge Amanda Maddox commented on the work of Vanessa Vettorellostating: “This captivating project addresses a relatively common but little-examined condition called strabismus. Drawing on research and personal experience, Vettorello has created a series of touching and tender images that collectively promise to shed light on an important topic.”

What does winning the award mean?
All recipients of Global e del Regional Grant Awardin addition to a cash prize, they will gain experience in using the equipment of GFX system. In fact, they will receive a camera body and two system lenses Large Format for the entire duration of the project, together with technical assistance from technicians and product experts Fujifilm.
I 15 winners selected will immediately begin working on their projects. All projects will be completed by June 2024. They will present the projects in an exhibition at the headquarters of Fujifilm a Roppongi, Tokyoin November 2024.
