ANCMA (National Association of Cycle and Motorcycle Accessories) has released the data of the motorcycle market for the month of April 2022. The registrations of mopeds, scooters and motorcycles they show an overall decline of 8.9% compared to 2021. All in all, the first four months of 2022, however, recorded only a slight decrease compared to last year (-2.6%). By dividing the various types of motorized two-wheelers, after many positive months, the motorcycles show a “minus” sign (-6.5%), while scooters and mopeds close in April respectively with a -11.1% and a -9.8% if compare to the same month last year.

Putting down the numbers offered by ANCMA, in April 28,853 vehicles including motorcycles, scooters and mopeds were placed on the market, equal to a drop of 8.9%. Scooters suffering from 13,552 registered vehicles. The motorcycles, registered in April 2021, are only 13,878. After the good result in March, mopeds are also marking time, with 1,423 vehicles registered.

ANCMA, the motorcycle market in April does not shine for sales

Considering the period January / April 2022, there is the third negative balance since the beginning of the year. This is reflected in the cumulative market, which with 93,575 vehicles sold records a decrease of 2.6% compared to the first quarter of 2021. Also in this case it is the scooters that have a negative impact, with only 40,933 vehicles registered, equal to a decrease of 16.2%. Still positive, however, the balance of motorcycles, with 46,669 vehicles registered and a growth of 11.49% over 2021; finally, mopeds, which, thanks to the advantage accumulated in the previous months, closed the period positively, with an increase of 10.18% and 5,973 vehicles sold.

If the “thermal” two-wheeler market suffers, the same cannot be said for the electrical counterparts. The market, in this case, shows an increase of 21.11% compared to the same month of 2021 and 918 vehicles sold. However, the number of registered vehicles dropped significantly compared to the previous month due to the lack of incentives. The balance of the first four months of the year was solidly positive, with a growth of 59.98% and 4,345 registered vehicles.
