The new ASUS ZenWiFi XD6 Wi-Fi 6 router is finally available in our country and can be controlled via Amazon Alexa and AiMesh technology
ASUS has announced ZenWiFi XD6, a new WiFi 6-based router designed to ensure optimal network coverage throughout the home, without sacrificing performance security and reliability. The credit goes to pair of ASUS AX5400 routers that make up the ZenWiFi XD6 system. These two devices are equipped with exclusive technologies in order to maximize connection efficiency and communication speed, so as to bring connectivity inside and outside the home.
Each router supports Wi-Fi 6 standards, so it is compatible with the latest protocols (802.11n, 802.11ac and 802.11ax) and also with the older ones (11g, 11b and 11a), in order to reach the maximum transfer rate of 574 + 4.804 Mbps. Performance is optimized by the six integrated antennas with different Mimo management depending on the operating frequencies (2 × 2 at 2.4 GHz; 4 × 4 at 5 GHz). Everything is entrusted to 1.5 GHz three-core processor powered by 512 MB of Ram and 256 MB of storage space. On both AX5400s there is no shortage of Ethernet ports (1xWan + 3xLan). The sum given by the two routers in the ZenWiFi XD6 system makes it possible to cover a maximum internal area of 500 square meters, equivalent to more than four rooms, and an external surface of approximately 2,700 square meters.
ASUS ZenWiFi XD6: Connection flexibility
ASUS has designed ZenWiFi XD6 to be flexible and to adapt to various usage situations. Thus the two routers operate from network terminals (backhaul) connected to both Wi-Fi and Ethernet: the AX5400 automatically and intelligently chooses the best mode based on usage and connection quality. Nothing prevents you from manually setting how to manage the dialogue between the two devices.
The management software is in fact designed to adapt to the user’s needs by simplifying settings and configuration. The setup steps can even be managed from the smartphone. The two routers automatically configure themselves and each of the two can operate as main or extender. Added to this is the support for AiMesh technology, which allows even less experienced users to expand the network, so as to extend the range of wireless operation, and define the most advanced functions in a simple and intuitive way. AiMesh intervenes by simplifying the addition of an additional ASUS router: as long as this is compatible with this protocol, coverage is extended automatically thanks to the automatic configuration functions.
ASUS ZenWiFi XD6: the smart home is safe
The ASUS ZenWiFi XD6 system is the missing piece to optimally manage the smart home. There native compatibility with Amazon Alexa functions, combined with Smart Looks, allow you to identify and configure the IoT devices in the home. Which, at this point, can be managed directly by the ZenWiFi XD6.
All this takes place in a context of maximum security “by design”. There AiProtection Pro function has an even more advanced parental control, free for life, to define precisely what happens on the network and which sites minor users can access. Not only that, AiProtection Pro features an intrusion prevention system (Ips) which blocks the most common attacks perpetrated via the Internet, which is added to the detection and blocking of any attacks in progress on any device connected to the network. This is in addition to the ability to block and censor access to sites deemed harmful.
If that’s still not enough, ZenWiFi XD6 comes with Instant Guard, which allows you to remotely connect to the system using a VPN connection with an encryption system. All these security functions are manageable from the smartphone through the app developed by ASUS.
