The new dawn of the living dead could be around the corner: Dead Island 2 returns to be the center of a rumor, but will it be complete?
An industry reporter stated that Dead Island 2 could be revealed again, and the rumor comes to assert that development is now almost complete. Speaking on his Sacred Symbols podcast, the veteran Colin Moriarty left little room for doubt. “I talked about it a few weeks ago, and now the game seems to be ready for a new reveal.” Apparently, his source also alluded to a very specific period for the announcement: the summer. The release should (we use the conditional as a precaution) follow the promotional campaign, with September and October as the first eligible months.

Moriarty is certainly not the first to feed the rumor about an almost complete development for Dead Island 2. Even the insider Tom Henderson he alluded to a second reveal, adding as a detail the development team involved, apparently Dambuster Studios. The company Embracer Group, to which the publisher Deep Silver belongs, hinted during the summary of the fiscal year that the game, still in development, could be released by the end of next (March 31, 2023). The CEO of Embracer, Lars Wingeforshe talked about it in a question-and-answer with the fans without, however, unbuttoning himself too much.
“I just said we have an unannounced triple A title… but since you think it’s automatically DA2, I can’t comment further.” Laughing, Wingefors concluded his speech with all his enthusiasm “for the games not yet announced”. If indeed the new announcement is as imminent as they say, we will probably know more in the newly announced THQ Nordic digital showcase. The group will announce and present “several all new games, with which to expand the portfolio with new genres between original and licensed IPs” on August 12.
