“Dopesick – Declaration of Dependence” is a series produced by 20th Television, part of Disney Television Studios coming to the streaming platform Disney + with the first two episodes starting on Friday 12 November
Dopesick will finally be available from November 12 on Disney Plus. The next appointments will be available every Wednesday. The 8-episode drama series stars a super cast: Michael Keaton, Peter Sarsgaard, Michael Stuhlbarg, Will Poulter, Kaitlyn Dever and Rosario Dawson. Guest stars include Phillipa Soo and Jake McDorman.

Michael Keaton it’s Dr. Samuel Finnix, a Virginia doctor who prescribes OxyContin to his patients without realizing the destructive effects the drug will have on those people and the country as a whole. “Dopesick“, In fact, it tells of perhaps the worst drug addiction epidemic in American history. On the one hand we will have the boards of directors of the Big Pharma pharmaceutical industry and on the other hand we will show the problems faced by a mining community in Virginia. Amidst a thousand obstacles and problems, the pressing history will lead us towards a real thrilling battle against multinationals and their economic power. The protagonists and the intervention of the DEA will be involved in solving this difficult and pregnant conspiracy story inspired by the New York Times bestselling book written by Beth Macy and previewed for Italy at the “Lucca Comics & Games 2021”.
Other characters include Peter Sarsgaard as Rick Mountcastle, the assistant attorney general; Michael Stuhlbarg is Richard Sackler, the head of Purdue Pharma; Will Poulter as Billy, a pharmaceutical rep who lied to doctors; Rosario Dawson is DEA agent Bridget Meyer; Kaitlyn Dever as Betsy, a miner; and John Hoogenakker plays Randy Ramseyer, an assistant prosecutor working against Purdue Pharma.
In conclusion
Written by two Emmy Award winner Danny Strong and directed by Oscar winner Barry Levinson, “Dopesick – Declaration of Addiction” is one of the most anticipated movie events this fall.
Certainly a compelling story but one that will make the public reflect from home. Whether you have read the novel or not, for a few weeks we will be waiting together on Wednesday with impatience to learn about the growing evolutions of the plot.
