German director Fatih Akin received the prestige award for his commitment to the defense of human rights
On the occasion of the seventeenth edition of the Rome Film Festival, it was presented Rheingold, a new film by German director Fatih Akin. On the occasion, the filmmaker also received the prestigious Kineo and the GCHR Movie for Humanity Award, a recognition of his great commitment in defense of human rights. Akin has in fact been a point of reference in this field for years, a commitment also certified by the film the Father, from 2014, focused on the terrible genocide of the Armenians. Now for the German comes another great recognition that certifies the genuineness of his work.
Fatih Akin won the Kineo and GCHR Movie for Humanity Award
This award is directed by the president of theKineo Cultural Association, Rosetta Sandrelli. This organization was founded in 2002 thanks to the support of the Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities and therefore celebrates 20 years of activity this year. It is one of the most important awards in the social field relating to film production, both Italian and international, alongside other prestigious awards such as the Green & Blue Award, sponsored by UNESCO, and the Movie for humanity award.
Kineo also, starting this year, has entered into a collaboration with the Global Campus of Human Rights, creating a MIC funded project. The Global Campus of Human Rights is today the largest network that guarantees post-graduate training and university courses focused on human rights and the safeguarding of democracy. His twenty years of work takes place in about 100 prestigious universities and has guaranteed the training of over 4,000 students and the provision of more than 6,000 training courses, seminars and workshops.
The collaboration between Kineo and Rome Film Festival instead it is very recent, it starts from this year and culminated with the prize awarded to Fatih Akin. For the Cultural Association, the next appointments scheduled for the ITTV film Festival in Los Angeles and then, in 2023, in Berlin and Cannes.
